Of all the animals I have drawn, emperor penguins touched my heart in a way I never expected. They endure months of the brutal Antarctic winter, taking turns to protect and feed a single chick, sacrificing everything to give the next generation a chance. Learning that climate change is causing the sea ice they depend on to disappear gave this drawing a deeper purpose. Through On Fragile Ground, I hope to inspire others to appreciate these remarkable animals and recognize the importance of protecting the fragile habitats they call home.
