Commissions · Wildlife & Conservation
Drawn from the wild. Made for you.
Original charcoal commissions of the wild creatures that move you — elephants, leopards, rhinos, birds — rendered at a scale that commands a room.
A note on this practice
"Every wildlife commission begins with a story - the moment you couldn't stop thinking about."
Wildlife commissions are a newer part of my practice. I take on a small number each year so I can give each piece the time it deserves — usually six to eight weeks from approval to completion.
I work from your reference photos, conservation documentary stills, or your own travel memories. Together we’ll shape the composition, the mood, and the moment to honour. The pieces below show the range of what charcoal can do — drawn from my personal collection and from my first wildlife commission.

How It Works
A collaborative creation
Wildlife commissions take time. The process is built to honor that.
01
We talk
Tell me about the animal, the story, where it’ll live. We’ll discuss size, composition, reference material, and timeline together.
02
I sketch
Once a 30% deposit is in place, I create 1–2 preliminary sketches. We refine until the composition feels right before I begin the final.
03
I draw
Wildlife pieces take 6–12 weeks depending on scale. I share progress photos at key milestones so the piece evolves with your input.
04
It arrives
Final approval, balance paid, then carefully crated and shipped. Larger pieces ship insured and sometimes white-glove for the right size.

Common Questions
Before you commission
Can I commission an animal you've never drawn before?
Absolutely. Most of the joy of commission work is being asked to draw something new. As long as we have good reference material, I’m open to almost any wildlife subject.
Where do reference photos come from?
From you, if you have them — perhaps from a trip or wildlife photographer you love. Otherwise we’ll source ethically licensed reference material together. I never copy a single photo; the final piece is always a composite informed by careful study.
How long does a wildlife commission take?
Studio-size pieces take 6–8 weeks once the deposit is paid. Statement pieces take 8–10 weeks. Heirloom-scale work can take 10–14 weeks or longer. I take a limited number of commissions at a time to give each piece full attention.
Can I see the work in progress?
Yes. I send progress photos at the preliminary sketch stage, then again at roughly the halfway mark, and a final photo before shipping. Your input shapes the piece — it’s a collaboration, not a delivery.
Do you do conservation organization commissions?
Yes — and I love this work. I offer adjusted pricing for registered non-profits working in wildlife conservation. Reach out and let’s talk about your project.
What about shipping a large piece?
Heirloom-size pieces include insured, custom-crated shipping in the price. For Statement-size pieces, shipping is included domestically and quoted at cost internationally. I take packaging seriously — these pieces are originals, not prints.
