Towering Affection

Charcoal on paper · 13" × 19" · 2025

The Story Behind this Piece

Standing taller than any other land animal, giraffes are often admired for their height. What captivated me, though, was the quiet gentleness they show one another. A simple touch of their necks or the way they stand side by side reveals a tenderness that contrasts beautifully with their towering presence. That quiet bond inspired Towering Affection – a reminder that the greatest expressions of strength are often found in kindness.

WILDLIFE FACT

A giraffe’s tongue can grow up to 18–20 inches (45–50 cm) long and is dark blue-black in color, helping protect it from sunburn while feeding on thorny acacia trees.
